AUDIENCE SIMULATION
Simulates Japanese consumers for product, message and campaign testing.
TOPPAN Inc. is a Tokyo-based company within TOPPAN Holdings. Its wider work includes information services, consumer and industrial products, and electronics. The operating company was established on 1 March 2023; the group dates to 1900. TOPPAN Inc. provides the consumer-simulation service described here.
TOPPAN describes 100,000 AI personas covering all 47 Japanese prefectures, ages 15 and over, in 40 consumer groups. Responses are simulated. Audiences can be selected by region, age, household, income and values.
Inputs include census, household-spending, employment and time-use statistics, population estimates, TOPPAN's consumer-research knowledge, online information and data from its group's Shufoo! digital-flyer service.
Teams can select an audience, ask questions and compare its reactions to different messages, product concepts or advertising. For retailers, TOPPAN describes local promotions and catalogues. For manufacturers, it describes exploring product ideas, specifications and communications. The service also supports web catalogues, flyers, direct mail and banners, with product selection and order adjusted for the audience. Simulated reactions can be used to shortlist ideas and identify questions for later testing with people.
Available through TOPPAN from 13 October 2026. The announced standard version starts at JPY10 million. The announcement does not specify a billing period or tax treatment.
Dedicated persona environments combining a client's own data are planned.
